The Relief Pitcher Moves to Amazon

The Relief Pitcher has left this shop and it is on Amazon now. The Kindle edition went live on 19 September 2026 at $3.99, and it is readable free inside Kindle Unlimited. The paperback and the hardcover are waiting on Amazon’s own weekly limit for new print editions; they follow next week at $19.99 and $24.99.

The direct download that used to sit on this page has been switched off, because Select asks for exclusivity on the digital edition and a house that asks readers to trust it does not keep a side door open. If you bought the file here, it is still yours and nothing about that changes.

What the book is

Winston “Doc” Alleyne has been the athletic trainer for the Chattanooga Riverkings for six years, and in twenty-one years in the game he has never had a page of his own work questioned. Then he pulls the club’s calendar against his own medical file and finds four supervised bullpen sessions logged under his credential, at one in the morning, on four off days, for a pitcher who was two thousand miles away. The machine that wrote them thought it was sitting in the Atlantic time zone.

What starts as a paperwork error becomes a question about a hand. The left index finger on the man on his roster carries an old spiral fracture that healed crooked, and the file for that name carries a wrist radiograph with no fracture line anywhere in it. Doc has had his hands on that head and neck for four days in June, and he knows exactly whose body he was holding.

Eleven people came into this country hung off one man’s itinerary, and the line they are all standing on ends on the twenty-fourth of September. Doc can prove what he knows. Proving it means handing over a form he signed in June that says he watched two things he did not watch. It is a novel about the difference between a lie told for a good reason and a lie told for a bad one, and about a man discovering that the only door out of a burning building was built by the person who set the fire.

The daily habit behind it

One title a day, Monday through Friday, moves from this storefront onto Amazon in all three formats. This one started on Friday and finished on Saturday morning, because the connection between the desk and the machine dropped halfway through the upload and the rule of the house is that a book does not sit half-published. Take the payment link down, verify it is actually down, rebuild the files, upload, and only then write it up. The writing is the interesting half. The other half is what keeps a small press honest.

The Relief Pitcher — a Books By Barron suspense thriller. Four Mondays. Four dark ballparks. One signature that should not exist.
